Spring!
It’s here, it’s here! The Vernal Equinox was yesterday. Today is the first full day of spring. Daytime and nighttime are equal, and from now on every single day will be a little bit longer, and every night will be a little bit shorter, until the longest day of them all, the Summer Solstice. To many this holiday is called after its old Celtic name, Ostara. To others, it has been adapted into Easter. And to those of us who live in the snowy northeastern US, it’s simply spelled

Easter and the Promise of Spring
Regardless of what we call them, the holidays of springtime are all about the same thing; the promise that life is eternal and survives behind and beneath even that thing we call death.
We see it in Nature. During winter, life is hushed, dormant, buried, often beneath mountains of snow. But in spring, we see that life didn’t end. It only slowed and rested, and now it’s busting out all over again. It was there the whole time.
We see in the story of Jesus’ death and resurrec

What Do Bunnies & Eggs Have to Do with Easter?
So what do bunnies and eggs have to do with Easter? It’s not all that hard to figure out, and it’s all very wonderful if you ask me. Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Before Christ, there was another celebration around the same time of the year. The celebration of the Vernal Equinox. The return of the sun, became the return of the Son. I would so much rather find things in common than reasons to be apart. And this holiday is so universal it j
