Balance is an Illusion
Blessed Mabon! Last evening, I captured the final sunset of summer. The Autumnal Equinox takes place at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time this very morning (22 September.) A time of balance? Some celebrate the equinoxes as times of balance, and use their energy to try to re-balance themselves and their lives. I’ve been mulling on this and coming to a new understanding, for me, that balance isn’t a real thing. It’s a passing illusion. The actual point of balance, the moment of the equino

A Mabon Ritual
During the day, gather several large leaves that have fallen from trees. These carry the essence of autumn, and of the balance of the equinox. During the night, sit before your Mabon fire, with the incense burning nearby. Or, if indoors, sit before your cauldron with a tea light burning inside. Be sure you have room to move around the fire. Take one of the leaves, hold it in your hands, and think about something that has come to you during the spring or summer, or will come t

The Energy of Mabon
Autumn is officially here. But as always, I like to talk about how our own cycles reflect the seasonal ones, and what the changing seasons mean to me on a deeper level. The energy of Mabon and fall is adulthood. Maturity. The fullest level of growth. It’s harvest time. The fruits of our actions are coming to us now. It’s a time for gathering and appreciating all we gather. It’s a time for celebration and a true moment of balance. Not just between light and darkness, but betwe

Doorway to the Season of Change
I love living here...
where the most subtle of changes are felt in every breeze, every breath, and every cell of our bodies if we’re in tune. The constant shifting of the seasons is reflected in every leaf on every tree, and oh how our Autumns thrill me! August 1st was the exact mid-point
between the longest day and shortest night of the year (June We’re a week past that point at this writing. It’s August 6th, and everything is su

Autumnal Musings
Attuning with Nature's Cycles Creates Alignment Attuning myself to the patterns of nature is, for me, the most beautiful path to alignment. And when I’m aligned, I match the vibration of all the things I’ve been wanting, and none of the things I have not. So the unwanted things fall away, and the wanted things come rolling into this experience I call reality. Fall feels like crossing the finish line There’s just something about autumn, isn’t there? Especially where I live, he

Autumn Equinox, MABON
Tomorrow (9/23 at 4:21 to be exact) is Mabon, the Autumnal Equinox, and the first day of Fall. This is a time of perfect balance between sun and moon, equal length of day and night, and unconditional gratitude. There is balance between everything and its opposite, light and dark, day and night, perceptions such as good and bad, male and female, sun and moon. The lesson of this day is in recognizing that everything contains and includes its opposite, and that aside from the tw

A Super Moon Eclipse Ritual
“Because the orbit of the moon is not a perfect circle, the moon is sometimes closer to the Earth than at other times during its orbit. When the moon is farthest away it’s known as apogee, and when it’s closest it’s known as perigee. On September 27, we’re going to have a perigee full moon—the closest full moon of the year.” Noah Petro, deputy project scientist for the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
That’s right folks, we’re in for a Super Moon!

Why Be Grateful for the Bad Stuff?
Blessed Mabon, to those who celebrate this beautiful holiday otherwise known as the Autumnal Equinox. This is a time when our focus is on two energies: the energy of the harvest, and the energy of perfect balance.
This the second of the three harvest festivals observed by many. The first was Lammas, early in August, and the third is the final harvest, Samhain, where the energy is quite different.
For today, it’s about abundance, about gathering in all that the Universe so g
