66,000 Pounds in NY Harbor
Everyone is talking about the humpback whale in New York Harbor, breaching and tail-slapping in front of the Statue of Liberty, and of course, being an everyday Mystic, I immediately wanted to explore the metaphysical symbolism. Whales in NY Harbor This is not a new thing. Whales get into the harbor from time to time and usually get back out into the open Atlantic again without too much trouble. This time, with so little traffic in the harbor due to Covid, there’s even less d

Everyday Mysticism 3
Part 1 Part 2 One of my everyday tasks is to walk the dogs. It’s not really a task. It’s a guarantee that I’ll spend some time in nature every day. Mostly. I readily admit that in the case of blizzards or pouring rain, both my bulldog and I opt out. But in decent weather, hot or cold, we walk 2 and often 3 times a day, out past the pond, and all the way around the back lawn. Everyday Mysticism Part 1
Part 2 Part 3 How to make ordinary life magical It came to me fully formed, the notion of how magical my everyday life is, how it got that way, and how I might share all of that with those who want more magic and mysticism in their lives. So I’ll begin with a series of posts right here on the blog, talking about easy ways to ensorcel our lives. What's a Mystic? Mystic: A person for whom nothing is mundane and everything has a deeper meaning, a spiritual side, and a messag

Why I Still Believe in Santa Claus: Part 2
Why I Still Believe in Santa Claus: Part 2 I am a student of spirit, and I know beyond any doubt that thoughts are things. Thoughts, once they are thought by a thinker, have an existence all their own, on a plane where non-physical things live. We humans are the thinkers, and therefore, we are creators. Everything you have in your home began as a thought. Lights and heat and telephones and televisions, computers and tablets and smart phones, indoor plumbing and sliced bread a

Why I Still Believe in Santa Claus: Part 1
Why I Still Believe in Santa Claus: Part One There was one Christmas when I was little and couldn’t sleep. I lay in my bed, desperately afraid Santa would come, see that I was still awake, and go away without leaving me any presents. I don’t know where I got that idea. It was probably something Mom told me to get me to go to bed already. Little did she know that trying so hard to sleep made it almost impossible to sleep. So I lay there, tense and nervous, and squishing my eye
