Light Wins!
Today is the vernal equinox of 2020, and the first official day of spring in the northern hemisphere. The energy of the holiday focuses on nature’s annual reminder that life is eternal. Even after a long period of darkness and apparent death, the sun grows strong again, melts the snow, calls forth the life from underground. Everything is reborn. Everything is growing and thriving, just like before the snow. As above, so below When we see a pattern in any part of nature, we ca

Spring!
It’s here, it’s here! The Vernal Equinox was yesterday. Today is the first full day of spring. Daytime and nighttime are equal, and from now on every single day will be a little bit longer, and every night will be a little bit shorter, until the longest day of them all, the Summer Solstice. To many this holiday is called after its old Celtic name, Ostara. To others, it has been adapted into Easter. And to those of us who live in the snowy northeastern US, it’s simply spelled

Spring!!!
It’s been a long winter, and while it was mild a lot, and brutal a little, it always seems to get awfully heavy around this time of year. And then it happens. Just when it seems darkest, just when 3 feet of snow have fallen and the past few days have been the coldest of the entire season and we start to wonder if it will ever end, it happens. Spring arrives. And the heavy darkness of winter fades. In a few weeks it will be a distant memory. What's really happening? Spring is

Everything Is New Again!
The energy of this day is powerful, and it’s the energy of rebirth. The time between now and mid-summer is a time of rapid growth and expansion. That’s certainly the feel of things in my neck of the woods. This blog has been reborn. We are now BlissBlog.org, and that’s just the beginning of our growth and expansion this season. We have a lot in store for you, and I hope you’ll stay for the ride. I have a newsletter just for BlissBlog folks, and while I haven’t sent out a sing

Easter and the Promise of Spring
Regardless of what we call them, the holidays of springtime are all about the same thing; the promise that life is eternal and survives behind and beneath even that thing we call death.
We see it in Nature. During winter, life is hushed, dormant, buried, often beneath mountains of snow. But in spring, we see that life didn’t end. It only slowed and rested, and now it’s busting out all over again. It was there the whole time.
We see in the story of Jesus’ death and resurrec

What Do Bunnies & Eggs Have to Do with Easter?
So what do bunnies and eggs have to do with Easter? It’s not all that hard to figure out, and it’s all very wonderful if you ask me. Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Before Christ, there was another celebration around the same time of the year. The celebration of the Vernal Equinox. The return of the sun, became the return of the Son. I would so much rather find things in common than reasons to be apart. And this holiday is so universal it j
